FAQ

What makes end grain different?

End grain refers to wood fibers that are oriented vertically, rather than across horizontally. This allows knives to pass between the individual fibers instead of cutting through them. So the surface resists scarring, heals itself over time, and protects both the board and the blade. It's also a more stable construction and less prone to warping under repeated use.

Will my board look exactly like the pictures?

Each board is made from solid maple or black walnut, and the natural tone, figure, and grain structure are part of its character. The boards are handcrafted from individual pieces of wood, so no two boards are identical.

Where are the boards made?

Each board is handcrafted proudly in Canada or the USA, using sustainably sourced North American hardwoods. Every piece is built, finished, and inspected in small batches. Usually one at a time.
